MEGISTUS

psychedelic space-dub-rock

Solo artist — and a band when required. Cinematic instrumentals, space‑drenched guitars, dub‑wise low end, synths & samplers, found dialogue and stolen TV dreams. Based between Ireland & the UK festival afterglow.

Story

Short Bio

Megistus makes music with a lot of space in it. A one‑person studio orbit that expands to a full band when gravity demands. Electric guitar (heavily effected) is the mothership, with excursions on drums, bass, keys, vocals, synths and samplers — often weaving in cinematic samples stolen from old movies and TV.

Genres drift through psychedelic/space rock, mushroom‑folk echoes, dub‑wise grooves, and electronic horizons.

Longer Orbit

Late 1990s — Mushroom folk‑rock
Cut teeth in a mushroom‑inspired folk‑rock band. Story‑songs, harmonies, and a first taste of touring.

Early 2000s — UK free‑party / festival improv
Founded a hippy‑trippy jam band with Space in the name, improvising through longform sets on the UK free party & festival circuit.

2002 — Pongmaster’s Ball
Greatest moment: support set for Ozric Tentacles, Nodens Inctus, and Eat Static at the legendary Pongmaster’s Ball, Shepherd’s Bush Empire, London.

Ireland years — Reggae dub rock
Pub and venue circuit across Ireland with a dub‑rock outfit. Highlights include Dolan’s (Limerick), Whelan’s (Dublin), and the Olympia Theatre (Dublin) supporting Ocean Colour Scene (twice). Opened for Mary Black, The Strypes, Passenger and Jerry Fish.

Now — Studio orbit
Back at the controls: synths, samplers and computer music supporting the true core — an effect‑laden electric guitar. Songs and instrumentals for solo sets or full‑band shows.
